What do we remember and what do we forget? Sometimes we remember a small, unimportant anecdote, a piece of music we overhear in the street, a fleeting gesture, a word spoken by chance… But what is hidden behind the futile fact, what is ineffable, inexpressible, perhaps, and yet essential in it? The futile questions acquire depth through memory… And they acquire a new dimension, until they mingle on equal terms with the most relevant facts, with the penetrating images and the words that hurt us or make us happy for life… If in previous years PI(È)CE has researched with elderly people and teenagers from the Raval and Poble Sec neighborhoods of Barcelona on themes such as identity, dreams and memory, this year this research takes on an even more intimate aspect if that is possible, seeking to illuminate the images or the tiny narratives that permeate us without us realizing it and which, precisely because of their discretion and apparent insignificance, end up revealing and laying bare the biographical, social or cultural context, or the mixtures of these, that shape us. The small details that we carry out or explain without thinking give us away. The history of neighborhoods, cities and migrations are made up of these bundles of stories… but, in order to enter into them, we have to sharpen our hearing and close our eyelids until we leave our eyes in darkness…
