A SCRAPBOOK AND IMPRESSIONS IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES
A production by PI(E)CE project within the european project RAPPORT, presented at CCCB, Grec Festival 2021.
AN AUDIOVISUAL PIECE OF INTERGENERATIONAL AND INTERCULTURAL COLLECTIVE CREATION.
Through images and texts on everyday odysseys, we deconstruct the journeys that take us away from home, in our daily lives, but also in the experiences of exile, migration and dislocation. We are accompanied by the writings on paper and pen of these contemporary odysseys, the readings of texts by Úrsula K. Le Guin, Gloria Anzaldúa, Sara Ahmed, all of them political reflections, from different perspectives, on the migrant experience. A dance of this departure, of this sometimes alienating, exhausting day-to-day life, but which becomes a fertile festival, a Dionysian liberation, a trance ball, an empowering and joyful struggle in the encounter with the other. A dance of firebird’s awakening.
SCRAPBOOK 2021, together with THIS PLACE 2020, is the audiovisual diptych of PI(È)CE in the context of the European project RAPPORT (with the support of the Europe Creative programme), in which it has been participating since 2019 in collaboration with the partners ACTA Theatre (England), Historieberattarna (Sweden), Teatr Grodzki (Poland).
For the last five years, the PI(È)CE project, as part of the Tantarantana Theatre’s Culture and Community programme, has been developing a continuous research on performing arts, creating spaces for artistic exchange in different contexts and with people of different ages, cultures, languages and socio-economic backgrounds. Artistic activity becomes a catalyst of experiences, a powerful trigger for reflection and expression, in a process of indomitable pedagogy.
In the context of the RAPPORT project, the reflection is centred on the experience of exile and migration and also on the critique of the policies that generate this sustained violence against migrants. The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the confinements and the reduction of people’s mobility, has made even more evident the inequalities and the climate crisis we are living through, as well as the fragility of all lives. With these two works, This place 2020 (made in confinement) and Scrapbook 2021, we want to return our humble tribute to all those people who leave home and do not know if they will return.

SINOPSIS:
Since autumn 2020, in this new cycle of the pandemic of deconfinement, we have been working on the new production of PI(È)CE in the framework of the European project RAPPORT. Meeting in person with all the participants to rehearse on a weekly basis, we have been building this audiovisual piece based on the experience of leaving home, on daily and also on the great migratory journeys. Words, gestures, movement and music help us to find poetic evocations that reflect our experiences and that this time we have decided to capture in an audiovisual piece. The filming of all the material we have patiently gestated during these months, has been an invigorating experience, as well as the whole process of editing.
Thus is born this Scrapbook 2021, a scrapbook of impressions of these uncertain times.
For ten years the PI(È)CE project, as part of the Culture and Community programme of Tantarantana Theatre, has been carrying out an ongoing research on performing arts with people of different ages, cultures, languages and socio-economic backgrounds. Scrapbook 2021, together with THIS PLACE 2020, forms the audiovisual diptych of PI(È)CE in the context of the European project RAPPORT (with the support of the Europe Creative programme), in which it has been participating since 2019 in collaboration with the partners ACTA Theatre (England), Histörieberattarna (Sweden), Teatr Grodzki (Poland).
