PI(È)CE Project / Tantarantana Theatre
Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB)
From 1 to 3 July 2016
Approximate duration: 60 min, without intermission.
Li diuen mar (Second Movement) is a performance piece that is the result of eight months of intense work, with the participation of young people from the secondary schools Consell de Cent in the Sants Montjuic neighbourhood and Milà i Fontanals in the Raval neighbourhood of Barcelona, grandparents from both neighbourhoods, elderly people at risk of social exclusion from the Arrels Foundation, and young people from the Habitación 1418 space (CCCB – MACBA) and the Clavo 21 project (Palau de la Música Catalana).
Produced by the Tantarantana Theatre, with stage direction and choreography by Constanza Brnčić, dramaturgy and texts by Albert Tola based on the participants’ originals and music by Nuno Rebelo (PI(È)CE project), this work of collective creation proposes a show with more than 80 people on stage that can be seen in two moments: Li diuen mar (First Movement), from 27 to 29 May, a chamber version at the Tantarantana Theatre in Barcelona, and Li diuen mar (Second Movement), with the participation of pupils from the Consell de Cent and Milà i Fontantals secondary schools and grandparents, and a second version with all the participants, from 1 to 3 July at the CCCB Theatre, within the framework of the Barcelona Greek Festival. This project has been made possible thanks to the support of Foment de Ciutat Vella, Imeb, Palau de la Música Catalana, CCCB – MACBA, Institut Consell de Cent, and the Grec Festival.
